SKILL | JORDAN: Panzer on rest in peace mission in Jordan
Purchased for a mere 500,000 GBP from the British, the pictured 2nd World War German Tank trophy was recently shipped to the Royal Jordan Tank Museum in Amman by IFLN Network Member Skill Express Freight.
Anyone with an interest in military history may recognize a Panzer IV and remember that this particular unit played its part in the dramatic German victories of May – June 1940.

Well and truly on a `rest in peace` mission, the tank was shipped from Southampton early November on board RoRo vessel TARIFA, using just a standard export license from the UK Department for Business, Innovation and Skills.
Operated by NMT Lines the vessel was discharged in the Port of Aqaba less than two weeks later. From entry into the Suez Canal the ship usually takes three days to get to Aqaba.
To avoid dents and or scratches to the paintwork, special care had to be given to the tank in transit. Weighing 25 tonnes the unit measured 7.02 metres in length, 2.88 metres in height and 3 metres in width.
The tank arrived at the port of embarkation on an ordinary low bed trailer and was driven onto the vessel by a technician familiar with this type of fully maneuverable unit using its own (diesel engine) power.

Skill Express Freight is quite experienced in handling `sensitive` equipment for the Jordan military such as 107 Scimitar tanks that were shipped from Antwerp to Aqaba.
Customs clearance was carried out directly by the client King Abdullah II Design and Development Bureau (KADDB) acting on behalf of the consignee, the Royal Jordan Tank Museum.
