An IFLN Member with a Livestock Profile

James Cargo Services Ltd. a new IFLN Member in the UK is bringing to the Network a new kind of expertise with its very specialized Livestock Shipping Department. This department has been running now for several years dealing with the safe and humane transportation of live animals by Air and Sea & Road. JCS Livestock have offices at Heathrow & Manchester Airports along with representatives at Gatwick, Newcastle, Aberdeen, Edinburgh & Glasgow.

JCS Livestock are linked to the main customs clearance computer "CHIEF" via its own ASM computer, and have a very close working relationship with The Department of Environment Fisheries & Rural Affairs, Heathrow Animal Reception Centre (ARC) and Hillingdon Borough Council Port Health Inspectorate. They are the only clearance agent to have an office within the Animal Reception Centre at London Heathrow Airport and are therefore in a unique position to deal with all types of livestock and perishable import and export consignments.

Philip Knowles, JCS General Manager has personally overseen and handled many import & export consignments of "V.I.P passengers" over the last twenty three years, including The Lipizzaner's & The US Olympic Event Team from New York, Snow Leopards to Shanghai Zoo, Heifers for the Royal Farm from New Zealand, Penguins to Saudi Arabia, Ostriches from South Africa to the Far East and Europe, the relocation of "Torgamba" a Sumatran Rhinoceros from the United Kingdom to the Sumatran Rhino Sanctuary in Way Kambas National Park, Indonesia on behalf of The International Rhino Foundation, The relocation of “Olive” the osprey who forgot how to fly (as reported in the Daily Mail) from the United Kingdom to the Abuko Nature Reserve in The Gambia on behalf of the National Bird of Prey Centre, as well as millions of day old Chicks, Ducklings, Turkeys, Tropical Fish and of course a variety of domestic pets.

As a major participant in the safe transportation of live animals JCS Livestock are committed to a high degree of professionalism and as such are members of the following regulatory bodies:

- The Animal Transportation Association (ATA)
- Independent Pet & Animal Transportation Association (IPATA)
- The Ornamental Fish Industry (OFI)
- Ornamental Aquatic Trade Association (OATA)
- British & Irish Association of Zoos & Aquariums (BIAZA)

JCS Livestock are a DEFRA Quarantine Approved Carrying Agent operating a fully equipped fleet of temperature controlled and insulated vehicles & Trailer.
